Chefs on Fire:
Chefs on Fire is a recent food festival in Portugal yet quickly became one of the most memorable! An amazing selection of portuguese chefs come together for two days to cook amazing dishes on fire, each chef has a stall where you can see them cook and get your meal. Each day the chefs and the food changes and alongside that you also get great music in the background.

Held for more than 40 years, you’ll find a bit of everything at this food festival, with cuisine from the north to south to the islands. Expect food stalls, cooking demonstrations, wine tastings and more, plus confrarias from across Portugal.

São Martinho or Magusto
Speaking of Saint Martin (or São Martinho), November 11 is a favourite day to celebrate in Portugal. Saint Martin was a Roman soldier who cut his cloak in half to share with a cold beggar. Afterwards the sun came out – and it’s why warm winter days in early November are called Saint Martin’s Summer. This time of year the Portuguese enjoy Magusto, a celebration that involves bonfires, wine and chestnuts, especially in the Trás-os-Montes and Beira Baixa areas.
Where: expect chestnuts everywhere
When: on the 11 November of 2025 (same day every year)
Convent Sweets Fair in Alcobaça - 27ª Mostra Internacional de Doces & Licores Conventuais de Alcobaça
I’ve waited one year for this event, it’s so unique as its held in the Alcobaça Monastery and it exists since 1999! It brings together around 40 exhibitors from across Portugal that produce convent sweets- the most traditional sweets of the country were created by monks in convents - and liqueurs.
Where: Alcobaça (1h30 from Lisbon)
When: from the 13 to the 16 of November 2025 (dates may vary next year)
Well now you know all Portugal has to offer until the end of this year!
Which ones will you join?
