Ceramics in Portugal: where to look

Portugal has a long tradition of ceramics, from everyday tableware to decorative pieces. If you’re looking to bring something home that isn’t food, this is a good place to start.

Bordallo Pinheiro 

One of the most recognizable names in Portuguese ceramics. Founded by artist Rafael Bordallo Pinheiro in the 19th century, the brand is known for playful, nature-inspired pieces: cabbage plates, frogs, and bright, detailed designs. 

You can visit the factory in Caldas da Rainha, a town historically linked to ceramics production.
