On sundays we want to relax, enjoy our day off and stroll around town. However, a large amount of restaurants close on this day of the week, so our options become limited. With this in mind, I gathered a list of a few amazing restaurants to visit on a sunday. Come with me through this list and, who knows, maybe next sunday you’ll be visiting one of them.
DOTE | if you’re craving meat
If you’re craving a Bitoque or a Francesinha (traditional dish originally from the north of Portugal), this one is for you! DOTE sees itself as a modern brewery as well as restaurant and here you’ll get to taste delicious dishes - and you can order a normal size dish or a mini version of it. This restaurant is located all around Lisbon: Alvalade, República, Parque das Nações or even Cais do Sodré.
The menu has a wide range of options, but their specialty is the Francesinha: most commonly made with sausage, fresh sausage, ham, beef steak, covered with melted cheese and a unique sauce. If you’re in the mood for something other than meat, they also have vegetarian and fish options. Also, the perfect drink to pair with your food is definitely the beer.
If you’re feeling like trying a traditional portuguese dish or even venture through the menu, Dote is waiting for you!

Cervejaria Ramiro | if you’re craving seafood
In the mood for seafood on a sunday? I got you. Meet Cervejaria Ramiro, a brewery/seafood restaurant that’s mandatory for seafood lovers. From prawns to clams, crabs, barnacles and crayfish, there is plenty to taste. I recommend you to make a reservation!
You can go all out and have delicious traditional portuguese starters, such as Manchego cheese or Cinco Jotas Iberian Ham. Next up is the main dish, which you can select almost everything seafood related: from shrimps on garlic, to glass prawn, lobster, oysters or even edible crab - mouth-watering for sure! To finish off great, you have desserts going from sweet like cheesecake, chocolate mousse, passing through fruit (mango) to some more daring ones, such as lemon ice cream with vodka or… Even more curious, the “Sobremesa Ramiro” which is a Tenderloin sandwich.
Enjoy your sunday lunch at Cervejaria Ramiro.

BocaLinda | if you’re craving mexican
Is it mexican sunday for you and you can’t find any open restaurant? Don’t worry, BocaLinda is there for you. Located in Santos, this restaurant has its own identity and runs away from stereotypes, the decor is more sober but that doesn’t mean that Mexico isn’t well represented - since it serves the most authentic mexican food.
The menu created by the chef Marco Margain has amazing options and for the braver ones, you have the grasshoppers served on the dinner menu with guacamole. For the less adventurous, you have tacos as the traditional Al Pastor or Arrachera - a cut of beef - with cheese and two-tone fish, which is a croaker seasoned in two different ways. You also have Pan de Elote which is a traditional mexican corn cake and to toast your meal, you have the delicious margaritas.
BocaLinda is translated to “beautiful mouth” and the concept is that when we eat something we like, we smile and feel happy.

Dallas | if you’re craving burgers
With four spots spread across Lisbon, Dallas is your go to if you’re in the mood for delicious juicy handcrafted burgers.
The burgers are made in house with 100% grass fed portuguese beef, “innovative toppings, and a warm, cosy atmosphere that feels just like home”. The bestseller is the Classic Cheeseburger, but I also recommend the Truffle Mushroom - with sautéed mushrooms, Swiss cheese, arugula and truflle mayonnaise. Also, you have the Italian Summer - with balsamic vinegar, arugula, marinated and roasted tomatoes, grilled courgette, parmesan and basil mayonnaise. You also have veggie and vegan options too with plant based meat, such as the Chck’n Cajun Burger - with vegan burger, lettuce, coleslaw, vegan cheddar and Dallas sauce.
All burgers are served with sweet potato fries or salad and you can add various toppings, such as vegetables, cheese or onions. You can finish off your meal with peanut brownies!

Leonetta | if you’re craving pasta
Pasta lovers, this one is for you! Leonetta, created by Pierre and Margaux, is born from the concept of a vibrant italian restaurant, with a taste for fun with fresh pasta made by han every day.
The menu has the classics as well as an organic wine list - both italian and portuguese options. You can start off with a selection of Italian cheeses such as parmesan, pecorino, gorgonzola or straciatella. You can also order pistachio mortadella, parma prosciutto and spicy salami. For the main dish, the Vegan Pink Gnocchi has been getting a lot of attention, this is prepared with cashew and beetroot gnocchi, vegan parmesan sauce, balsamic puree, crunchy sage, vegan feta cheese, yellow beetroot and toasted walnuts.
To finish off in the best way, there’s also desserts: chocolate tiramisu or the vegan panna cotta with red fruit coulis.

Which restaurant will you be visiting next sunday?
