3 plans for rainy days in Lisbon

Lisbon and rain are two beautiful things that, unfortunately, don’t get along.
The moment it starts, the city seems to slip into mild chaos: streets flood, traffic slows down, and everyone suddenly remembers they’ve left something very important at home. Terraces empty, winter beach days vanish, and plans get postponed by everyone.
But rainy days don’t have to ruin the fun. Lisbon may be famous for its outdoor life, but over the past few years, the city has quietly built an incredible variety of indoor experiences, perfect for a foodie or a curious traveler.
Here are three plans that I love to make the most of a rainy day in Lisbon:
1. Take a Cooking Class:
Lisbon is becoming a gastronomic playground, so why not use the weather as an excuse to learn something new?
Some standout experiences include:
Natelier: Craft your own pastéis de nata inside a real bakery.
Workshops Pop Up: From pastries to regional dishes, they offer a rotating selection of culinary workshops.
Academia Time Out: Professional chefs, different themes and recipes you'll actually want to recreate at home.
Casa Mexicana: Not Portuguese, but absolutely unforgettable. Authentic Mexican flavours and a wonderfully immersive experience.

2. Wine & Ceramics:
Nothing better than these two combined with some rain outside.
Disco Wheel: A store that hides a stunning ceramic studio which could be compared to therapy. The music, the dimmed lights and the wine make it a super fun experience to do alone or with friends.
Studio Marvila: A Studio in Marvila that beautifully combines immersive pottery workshops with the easy charm of a natural wine bar

3. Try a New Cuisine:
A true foodie knows that bad weather is no excuse for boring home delivery food. Rainy days call for cozier corners, candlelit tables, and new flavours to keep the novelty.
Some of my favourites:
Ponja Nikkei: For refined Nikkei (peruvian meets japanese) cuisine with vibrant, playful plates.
IRU Omakase: A Japanese tasting experience for those who appreciate surprises, elegance, and the magic of eating at the counter.
Ruoto: Perfect pizzas, nothing else to say, try them.

Remember rain doesn’t last forever, and once Lisbon dries up, a food tour is the perfect way to celebrate. Wander through Lisbon with us!
