Portuguese Food Dictionary: Pijaminha

A pijaminha is one of those things that only Portuguese people truly understand.

And despite the name, it has absolutely nothing to do with pyjamas.

For us, a pijaminha is pure nostalgia and comfort and honestly, one of the best ways to end a meal.

In Portuguese restaurants, a pijaminha is a large plate filled with small portions of different desserts. Instead of choosing just one sweet, you get a little selection of everything: maybe some mousse, a slice of cake, a pudding, a classic Portuguese dessert, all served together.

It’s generous, a little chaotic, and completely irresistible.

To me, it’s also the perfect dessert idea. Because you don’t have to choose. No difficult decisions. Just a little bit of everything.
